Polly Pockets - I had a whole village of these things! I had the right wedding chapel in this picture too. Polly pockets today are just not the same!

American Girls - I had a "create your own" and chose the asian one which was the only black haired one at the time...I thought it looked like me. Her name started at Elizabeth and then I changed it to Sabrina. LOL

Richie Rich - LOVED this movie "Dad not found, Dad not found", haha. The second movie sucked though :/

Forgive me if I have already blogged about this, because if I have, I have already forgotten! I was inspired to make this fun dino planter for work from Plaid Pigeon (I think their shop is closed right now). But when I saw the fun dinosaurs I was sure that I could make my own! I have no brothers, so I was SHOCKED to find out how expensive a simple plastic dinosaur is. I found my Tyrannosaurus on EBAY, it is a vintage 1985 dinosaur (oh fancy!). Here is the process of my planters creation:

I personally thing the name and design for this new(ish) learning center Kumon is terrible. First of all, I don't know how it is properly pronounced, but to me kumon = come on. It sounds like encouragement to the student, but not necessarily in the best wording. Beyond the name is the face icon. It is neither smiling nor frowning. Altogether the branding to me is plain depressing. I seriously think it looks like a joke and I would never send my kids to this place. In my opinion, I am surprised it even exists.

This is my personal design project for March (per my 11 in 2011 goals). I was very excited to work on this poster since I had the idea in mind for a little while. I am not the best at the pen tool in Illustrator and am proud to say that I illustrated all of this and didn't trace anything (even though it is fairly simple objects) - go me! This is a quote from an Owl City song called "Super Honeymoon". The lyrics to their songs are very colorful and fun, bursting with artistic ideas. I plan to use lyrics from other Owl City songs in future posters to make a series. The fonts I used were Honey Script and Rockwell. The Owl City logo (after some research) was created with SF Distant Galaxy Alternate. I really enjoyed working on this and hope you like it as well! PS: I am probably seeing them in Philly this summer if I get tickets today! Wooo!

Before I go about bashing what I am about to talk about, I will mention that I do like some of the art by Jeff Koons as I posted HERE, HERE and HERE. I especially love his "celebration series" as I talk about in both of those posts as well as some of his other inflatable and sculptural art. I came across this "Hulk Elvis" series a few months ago and kept forgetting to post about it. He has an art piece of these inflatables lined up as an installation and coincidentally I drive past a similar inflatable Hulk every day...

(BTW I was NOT driving while this picture was taken)

Anywho, I could not find any photos of the installation art. However, Jeff apparently has learned amateur Photoshop? Here is the "art" he apparently photographed and altered in Photoshop...then printed oil paint onto canvas for these... I am not usually one to say this...but it looks like a 5 year old did these...I don't get it (even though you don't always have to "get" art)
