Although quite random, I have always been intrigued by the creative vibrancy of crazy, high-fashion makeup photography. I really would like to try this out sometime and I probably will, even if I am my own model...

Instant Gratification
Since I am in a photo class - Digital II, I have been looking at some photography only since it is a great interest of mine. I have stumbled upon some Polaroid photos which made me think I should make a post about the change in instant photography. In the 1980's - not like I lived for most of them - the words instant photography would bring to mind a big bulky Polaroid camera with the rectangular white box and square film with photos that would print and appear within minutes.
Today in the digital age, instant photography has brought on a new meaning. Digital photography has taken over most of the photography world. I myself do enjoy digital photography, the ability to instantly view photos and take many and delete without having to waste film? But really is anything a waste of film. I did take a traditional photography class in high school and enjoyed learning things in the dark room and watching photos come to life. In reference to Polaroid cameras, I never had one but have in the past year considered buying one off ebay for fun and art...but the prices are going up! The truth is that Polaroid has discontinued producing their instant cameras and film! On their website they advertise that "you still can have your instant photos" ...if you buy their new digital camera and "instant, portable printer"....
What is it about those little white bordered photos that attracts many so easily. The cameras did not even take that great of photos, although often made some photos look more interesting or dramatic that the actual scene or object were. Here are some photos I have found online of Polaroid instant film photography:
I was also interested to find some Polaroid art...neither of these were created with true Polaroid instant film..but it is fun that the "Polaroid look" lives on in the Photoshop world and it is truely quite easy to create. Here is a tutorial on how to make your own Polaroid photo. And here is how to make a Polaroid photo collage. Here are some "Polaroid art":

Adhemas Batista
In my Professional Practices class on Thursday night, we performed mock-interviews with our professor in order to prepare for (hopefully!) interviews we will soon be getting! During the interviews we were asked a series of questions...and although the questions I was asked were quite typical there are a numerous amount of questions that graphic designers being interviewed should be prepared to answer. I feel like I am very bad at picking favorites of basically anything in my life but thought I should use my blog to help myself search more into the design world and find some favorites of design I could discuss if asked in an interview. Some of these things are favorite website, logo, designer etc. etc. I thought I would begin with who a favorite designer of mine is...although I do not know many. I was introduced a few years back by a friend of a friend to the designer Adhemas Batista...not literally introduced...you catch the drift. Anyways, I think he uses color and designs in an awesome way and I love when he integrates photography or drawings in a somewhat mixed media style. Here is his website. and here are some mf my favorite projects of his:

Mixed Media
For my web class this semester we discussed trying out something new with our CSS webpages we are about to design. During brainstorming of design styles we are attracted to, I decided I may expand on my love of mixed media designs. Here are some examples of mixed media designs I found in a google image search.

Septa Goes Green
I went to the Philadelphia Flower Show with my friends MW and EW the other day. My attention was caught as I exited the train at the Market Street station by the new marketing for Septa going green. The posters and other promotional items are not necessarily extravagant, nor are the imagery anything exceptional, but the simple text and witty phrases are very effective. Here are some examples of garbage boxes and posters I viewed during my visit:

Its all about business...cards?
So, I knew I was not going to be good at keeping up with this...but in my defense that past week before break was super-busy and now I am home which is wonderful! I thought I should start
somewhere and here it is.
While I was working on my self promotion items this summer such as my logo and resume, etc. I stumbled upon many creative business card designs. Here is a website I found a lot of the awesome business cards. I also received a very cool book called The Best of Business Card Design 6 from my friend MW for my birthday since a designer can never have too many art books :-)
Here are just a few cool Business Card Designs I have found in my travels:
