This Givenchy Fall 2010/2011 Haute Couture gold dress is freaking amazing. (Too bad the model's face is so unfortunate looking).

When Life gives you lemons...
Here are two print-art pieces I found on Pinterest recently, enjoy ;) ...they both also happen to be on Etsy!

Colorific
I follow a bunch of awesome design blogs and thought I should start sharing some of them with you. Here is a fun new one I recently started following, design seeds. I stumbled across it from some pins on Pinterest. Their slogan is "for all who love color". They take photos and display a corresponding color palette with each image. Great for inspiration. Here are a few of my favorite spring palettes, as I anxiously await the arrival of warmer weather to come!

Super Honeymoon.
This is my personal design project for March (per my 11 in 2011 goals). I was very excited to work on this poster since I had the idea in mind for a little while. I am not the best at the pen tool in Illustrator and am proud to say that I illustrated all of this and didn't trace anything (even though it is fairly simple objects) - go me! This is a quote from an Owl City song called "Super Honeymoon". The lyrics to their songs are very colorful and fun, bursting with artistic ideas. I plan to use lyrics from other Owl City songs in future posters to make a series. The fonts I used were Honey Script and Rockwell. The Owl City logo (after some research) was created with SF Distant Galaxy Alternate. I really enjoyed working on this and hope you like it as well! Also take a listen to the song "Super Honeymoon" HERE or below.
PS: I am probably seeing them in Philly this summer if I get tickets today! Wooo!

Really, Jeff?
Before I go about bashing what I am about to talk about, I will mention that I do like some of the art by Jeff Koons as I posted HERE, HERE and HERE. I especially love his "celebration series" as I talk about in both of those posts as well as some of his other inflatable and sculptural art. I came across this "Hulk Elvis" series a few months ago and kept forgetting to post about it. He has an art piece of these inflatables lined up as an installation and coincidentally I drive past a similar inflatable Hulk every day...
(BTW I was NOT driving while this picture was taken) |
Anywho, I could not find any photos of the installation art. However, Jeff apparently has learned amateur Photoshop? Here is the "art" he apparently photographed and altered in Photoshop...then printed oil paint onto canvas for these... I am not usually one to say this...but it looks like a 5 year old did these...I don't get it (even though you don't always have to "get" art)

minnie.
It is not a secret that Minnie is my favorite Disney character. Love this dress and shirt! Unfortunately the link to the photo shoot of the girl in the Minnie dress no longer works, but the shirt you can find at Forever 21!

Seafoam Green.
Here are some seafoam green inspirations to feast your eyes on. This all began when I saw a minty-seafoam colored nail polish online or on TV and loved it! I have looked at numerous stores and finally found the color I was looking for at Ulta. It is China Glaze called Re-fresh Mint. There are a few other colors very similar by Essie and OPI(pictured below) which I could not find, but this one works just great and I love it! While on Pinterest recently (my new obsession o.m.g.), I found this awesome photo someone posted of the girl in the seafoam dress on the spiral staircase. I then found the Peony ring and love how the antiqued brass mimics the staircase from the other photo! ...then I threw in a seafoam green vespa, just because :)

mmmm apple rings.
The other day while shopping at Charlotte Russe (which has awesome costume jewelry!) my friend MW and I came across an awesome green apple ring. It would be a fun accent to any outfit. I wasn't a huge fan of the rhinestones on that particular ring, but I did really like it! I looked online for the ring to share it with you and couldn't find it. However, I DID come across these gems. I for seriously want one ;)

Annie_Leibovitz Disney Photography
I stumbled across some of these fantasy-like Disney photos of celebrities somewhat recently. I did some research to find out that the photographer was Annie Leibovitz. In truth, I feel like a terrible designer for not knowing her. I do suppose perhaps that I have probably seen her photography before, but have never heard of her. Anywho, I could not find her personal website/know if she even has one (?!) but I have linked the wiki article about her...yea yea. But, I do love me some Disney and I love the fantasy touch she gave these photo shoots. Very cool to see the animated images in "real-life". Take a look:
